G’Day!

I was a Queenslander in 1990s.

I had my college and university years in Brisbane. There was an outreach program to spend fortnight at St. George, where I had seen white layers of waves of cottons at the farms around. I was interviewed at the local newspaper for I was the first Korean to visit the community there. Also, I had a chance to spend a weekend at Dalby, where I attended a friend's wedding. I saw a huge size steak at the reception dinner, almost pouring out of the plate. The mother of the bride said the size of steak is the size of hospitality when it comes to the country style wedding. Visiting Cairns up in the North, during the semester break was something never forget, especially scuba diving off the pontoon at the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

Recently in 2019, I had a business trip to coal mines at the heart of the Bowen Basin area, driving miles through Moranbah, Dysart, Emerald, up to Mackay.

This year, in January, I have become a New South Walsh, after more than 20 years absence from Australia. It is the same Governor Phillip Tower, where I attended a job interview of POSCO as a post graduate student back in 2000 and now back in the same building as Managing Director of POSCO-Australia.

Since I joined POSCO in 2001, I have been fortunate to undertake various roles and responsibilities at HQ across Corporate Planning, Mergers and Acquisitions, Overseas Investment, and Coal/Raw Materials purchasing.

I will do my best with other expat colleagues and promising global staff in the Sydney office to widen the business platform for POSCO to create real values in terms of economical, environmental, and social aspects as a developer, designer, and director.

While I am a proud Korean citizen, I have considered myself an Aussie to some extent. It is great privilege to represent Korea in Australia as well as Australia in Korea.

I am looking forward to catching up new people and places to explore Downunder further and wider.
